Notes and app data
The app stores notes, titles, tags and folders locally. It does not require an account and contains no advertising, analytics, tracking or third-party SDKs. This release has no sync, shared lists, subscriptions or in-app purchases.
Password lock
Before optional password encryption is enabled, readable app data is protected by iOS file protection. The optional lock encrypts the notebook, including titles, folders and tags, using AES-256-GCM and PBKDF2-SHA-256 with 600,000 iterations and a random salt. Passwords are not saved or sent. The encryption key stays in app memory while the space is unlocked.
After a successful save, the encrypted space locks when the app goes into the background or after five minutes without activity. If saving fails, the app reports the error and keeps work in memory so it can be exported. Lost passwords cannot be recovered. Encryption does not protect a compromised device, unencrypted exports, or guarantee forensic erasure. This release has not had an independent security audit.
Backups, imports and exports
The data folder is excluded from automatic cloud backup. You can export to a location you choose in Files, including a cloud provider subject to its own policies. Full backups from an encrypted space remain encrypted. Exporting a single note as Markdown creates a readable file; the app asks for confirmation if encryption is enabled.
Imports are processed locally. A previous local save is kept for recovery. When encryption is enabled, the previous readable recovery file is removed. Previously exported files are not affected.
Deletion and retention
You can move notes to Trash or permanently delete them in the app. A deleted note may still exist in the previous local save until a later save, or in backups you exported. Deleting the app may remove its local notes. Keep regular backups outside the app.
Support email
If you email support, we receive your email address and the information you choose to send to answer your request. Support messages are not used for advertising. Do not send passwords or sensitive notes; describe the problem or use fictional examples. You may request deletion of support correspondence, subject to necessary retention obligations.
Apple and this website
Apple may process download or crash information under its own policies and your device settings. Thought Meadow does not add tracking tools for this purpose. This website's hosting provider processes ordinary requests and associated access logs. These pages contain no analytics cookies or external scripts.
Changes
This policy describes the local app release identified above. It will be updated before services such as sync or sharing change how data is handled.
